How To Find The Right Real Estate Agent

Real Estate Blog

Buying a home is a big life decision. Investing money in real estate can be daunting if you are new to the process. Finding the right real estate agent to walk you through the transaction is key to helping you understand your options and commitments. Here are four things you should look for in a real estate professional so you hire the right agent to represent you:

Good Track Record

Finding a real estate agent that has solid experience is a great place to start. Good real estate services usually come with happy client reviews. Look for testimonials that show you the agent's work ethic, success rate, and overall people skills from their past deals. You can inquire about their transaction numbers. Learning how many clients they sold for or helped with purchasing can be a good indication of success and demand.

Local Real Estate Services

Look for real estate agents that are familiar with your ideal neighborhoods. Having a professional that knows the local market inside and out can give you a big advantage. If a real estate agent knows pricing and the local trends, they can help you put together competitive offers without spending more than necessary.

Patience Is Important

Buying a home can feel like a rushed process if the real estate market is booming. Finding a real estate agent who doesn't pressure you to commit to a sale you're not sure about is crucial. Their top responsibility should be to help you find the right home, even if the deal takes longer to find. You want someone who represents what you want and need out of a home purchase, not a salesperson who will rush you through a process.

Getting Creative With Offers

Having a real estate agent who knows how to create an attractive offer is one of the most important things to look for. If the housing market is a busy one, you may find yourself submitting offers to homeowners who have multiple offers to review. Creating a solid offer based on the information you have about the sellers is key. Your real estate agent should be able to dig deep and look for ways to make your offer stand out. Offering more good-faith money, waiving certain contingencies, or offering more than the asking price are some good things to consider. Find someone who knows how to take charge of the situation to give your offer a good chance of success.

Take your time while searching for real estate services. Finding the right person to represent you can be the best tool you can have in the search for your new home!

Sarah's Renting Tips

Although I've never worked professionally in the real estate business, I sure know my way around it. How, do you ask? Well, I have simply rented a lot of different places and worked with a lot of different landlords and real estate agents. In the past 7 years I've lived in 11 different houses or apartments, none of them my own. In finding those 11, I have looked at literally hundreds of apartments. I used to hate house hunting, but now it's kind of fun. You just need to know what you want and the right questions to ask. Hopefully this blog can help you learn some of the tricks of the trade from another renter like yourself.
